After investigation, the root cause of the problem is that the exhaust pipe design is too short, and the exhaust pipe sealing is not tight, which leads to a large amount of exhaust gas in the exhaust well can not be discharged outside. A large amount of exhaust gas leaked and spread irregularly in the room, and the generator room became a dangerous "toxic cave", seriously endangering the health of personnel and the safety of unit operation.

In order to solve this difficult problem, the workshop set up an emergency problem-solving team to analyze the problem and develop a solution. After the site investigation, the team members found that the key to solve the problem lies in the smoke exhaust. As a result, the team decided to modify the idea of lengthening the exhaust pipe to ensure that the exhaust gas was effectively exhausted to the outside.

However, a series of technical problems followed, such as how to design the overall length of the extended exhaust pipe, how to fix the pipe, what materials to use, how to prevent rain, and how to clean the soot blocking the pipe ......

After repeated studies, the team came up with a solution. In order to reduce the exhaust resistance, the lengthened smoke exhaust pipe should minimize the number of elbows, but not to damage the building structure and roof waterproofing. After weighing, the team decided to adopt a solution of an elbow out of the wall with a T-joint, which cleverly solved the problems of smoke exhaust, soot cleaning and rain protection. Considering that the exhaust gas temperature of the unit was nearly 90℃, the team decided to use Q235 carbon steel for the exhaust pipe and channel steel for the fixed bracket. After overcoming the above technical problems, the team repeatedly revised the drawings of the plan, finalized it and started to prepare for the implementation of the site transformation.

As it involves high-risk operations such as fire and temporary electricity in limited space, inspection, confirmation and safety supervision before and during the operation are essential. After going through the relevant operation safety approval procedures, the team tested and confirmed the safety of oxygen and harmful gases in the smoke extraction wells, and the intense and much-anticipated renovation work officially began.

The pipe mouth was polished and welded, the fixed bracket of the exhaust pipe, the rain-proof cap and the dust collection port were installed, and the pipe painting ...... was successfully completed after nearly 8 hours of intense work. The team members cleaned up the tools and work site, checked the modified exhaust pipe repeatedly and waited for the inspection result together.

It was time to test the machine. After pressing the "run button", the diesel generator set started the no-load test. In the roar, the unit ran smoothly, the running sound, vibration, engine speed, etc. normal, the generator load output is normal ...... preliminary observation shows that the previous phenomenon of smoke has disappeared, the unit's "poison" is solved.

"The layout of your independently modified exhaust pipe is clever and reasonable, the unit runs normally and can be used with confidence!" After nearly an hour of testing, the generator manufacturer's on-site evaluators gave a thumbs up.
